FTAA Member – Anita Robinson
Anita Robinson started her industry knowledge at RMIT (Melbourne College of Textiles at the time) by successfully completing an Advanced Certificate in Clothing Manufacture and an Associate Diploma in Textile Merchandising / Marketing, taking her 3 1/2 years.
Anita took up a job opportunity in Sydney straight after her studies and had decided to stay for one year, which ended up being twelve. In those years, she had worked for Sydney-based companies, such as, Gazal (Lovable Sleepwear), KCX, SMP, Tightrope, Aztec Rose and George as a Lectra CAD operator.
Anita’s next phase was to establish a computer pattern making bureau under the name of Fashion Angels located in the Sydney Lectra office from 2003 to 2008. She was also contracted as the Lectra trainer, which created a win-win for both parties.
During the five years of running the bureau she dealt with many fashion businesses. One business was AussieBum, who sell men’s underwear and swimwear online. Anita had an integral role in helping develop the pattern for the “Wonder Jock” (underwear with a pouch) and the pattern for World’s Largest Underwear to go into The Guiness Book of Records.
She also had the opportunity to develop a unique sublimated print dress for Fashion Exposed to promote CAD technology and industry networking. The print was technically engineered to match at the seams and is a great example of creating a niche product.
Anita is now home in Melbourne looking at developing more of her knowledge in digital printing with CAD. Anita likes to be known as The Fassion Angel – Putting the Passion in Fashion!
